Gel still wet

If the gel and Duretec were fresh, and the temperature was in the eighties, and the MEKP was added properly by volume, then it would seem that there was insufficient mixing. MEKP does not automatically disperse in gel, and needs to be stirred more than you would like. Hope that this helps.

Wax paraffin ? After 2 coats it looked awesome was going to sand then shoot the third coat , any way that was when it was wet now some is still wet and the other half that's dry looks like it has a layer of shellac on it lol
I got plenty of gel, hardener and duratec left what would be the best advice if I were to reshoot this weekend I gotta get this boat in the water ASAP

Look for the Surface Agent.
You could wash it all off with acetone and start over. Keep trying and what part of the boat are you spraying.
You must mix the gel and hardner for two minutes no BS.
Mix in the surface agent for the last coat of spray.
Look out for over spray on the rest of the boat- cover it.

If you are using duratec you don't need pva or wax.
But it does sound like you didn't get a full mix with the mekp. If it still hasn't cured wipe it off with acetone soaked rags, let it dry, sand and try it again. Make sure you are scraping the sides and bottom while you are mixing.

Q: If I use this product, do I still need styrene wax to get a complete cure in top coating situations?
A: No. For added insurance, you could spray PVA over the gel coat to provide another way to seal out the air. Only add styrene wax if performing boat hull repairs below the waterline.
