Those that maybe haven't done a boat don't realize how hard it is. Cars are much easier because they are straight. Boats have ripples and and imperfections. Every ripple combined with the curve of the boat makes your tape line crooked no matter how good you are. The 2" guide to start helps a lot. Pull as long of pulls as possible and while sighting down the line have a partner in the middle tap it in. You can't just lay it down like on a car. Don't plan on perfect, perfection in this case is unachievable.

I used over a mile of masking tape on my boat!
