orange peel
I'm blending in a spot using Imron, I want to keep the orange peel to a minium. Does air pressure have anything to do with that or can I thin this with something besides the activator? I'm using a Binks #7 spray gun. Thanks

Raise the pressure a bit and ease back on the fluid. It will atomize better. See if you can get a few ounces of blending agent to melt it down. Reducer works good too. Make sure you don't spray past the scuffed edge or it will never bite correctly and you will burn the edge back when you rub it.

air pressure = runs, sags
fluid control = orange peel
orange peel is created by not putting on enough material to flow out correctly. There is a fine line between an orange peel free finish and having runs all over.

+1 on that . . . yep
it takes a seasoned hand and impecable technique but its do-able. the trick is how you step the edge down. Over the years i have had to develop some methods for open panel blending and can pretty much do a seamless blend smack dab in the middle of a boat. each repair is unique though and has to be assessed on the fly

Pile on fixx lol!
but it is true sometimes its just easier to do a whole stripe if its on the surface and not burried under clear, have to weigh out your time dealing with a blend over just prepping the whole stripe. Again its case by case
