I did Rhinoliner back in 99 and it still looks absolutley perfect! I just picked up another boat and the engine is coming out soon and I will do the same with it, although probably Linex this time because they are closer. They have the ability to make the texture smoother if you ask, which is what I did....looks kind of like orange peel on a paint job. Cleans up in seconds. BTW, I did red the first time, On the next one I'm doing gray.

You completely de-rig the bilge. Everything comes out!
You sand it all down with 80 grit. Every surface and every nook and cranny.
You blow in a heavy coat of waxed gelcoat and sand it back with 120 grit. Repeat until smooth.
You finish with a 50/50 mix of gel and duratec high gloss or the paint of the choice.
Easy, huh?

Can I paint over this when finished? Or best just to leave the gel/duratec surface... Not sure how fancy I want to get ?? What do you think about doing the underside of the engine hatch as a trial??

You don't have to use gel. You can smooth out any surfaces and then use paint. I just did mine. I actually do the chit for a living haha. You do need to use the right products. It is not rocket science but labor intensive. Make sure to NOT cut corners and take your time.
