Cougar cub damage
Newby here, Picked up a cougar cub with some glass damage.tree fell on top by controlls.I plan on spliting hull for a full restore anyways. I am thinking about glassing under the damage and was wondering if I should glass in some wood for strengh or not needed. What resins and cloth do you recomend and what should be done about the stress cracks on the topside. Thanks

if the damage was a design flaw then yes its ok to improve the area but because its impact damage then you want to stick with whats there. if done properly you should not need any sort of wood core to strengthen the area, a proper repair will be stronger simply on its own. the key is in prep make sure it is scarfed back in 36 grit and at a ratio of about ten or fifteen to one and use a good quality vinylester resin. for fabric you only need 1708 bi ax and maybe a little mat for the final layer. trick is you want to try and preserve what is there without making a hard spot, on the inside I would just do two laminations, one about the size of the repair and one slightly larger.

I split the hull apart and it needs new transom. Tore it all apart got new wood and transom all cleaned. What should I use to glue the new transom to the hull. I am going to wrap the new wood in 1708 and vinylester before I install it. Any advice would be great Thanks
