Learning to work with fibreglass?
Im thinking of learning to fibreglass. its always something ive wanted to learn how to do.
just wondering if anyone knows some good online literature to get me started on the theory behind it. ive found a few short articles but looking for something a little more in depth.
Also what would a reasonable allocation of funds to get a startup kit. (looking at building a heat shield (approx 1m x 0.2m x 3mm)

Though Im no "expert:" I have slung a bit of resin and epoxy. Its relatively simple unless your trying to get indepth like complete layup schedules etc. Do you need to make a mokd or do you just need to make a flat sheet?? You said "heat shield", just how hot are we talking????

I buy my stuff in bulk from US composites, and get balsa core from Mertons
IMO the best way to learn is to buy 5 gallons of cheap poly resin, some cabosil, some cheap cloth, some mat, and some bi-ax, and then try and build something - like a wood table covered in glass. Then try to paint it! Once your through all of that, you will know what works, what doesn't, and then tackle a few small projects on the boat/house/whatever
Once you feel comfortable you should step up to epoxy, carbon, and other more expensive materials so your not wasting lots of $$$$
It's not that hard once you do it a few time
