Default Help with stringers?

Working on a formula 311. This problem started with a leak in the gas tank and now we have uncovered a larger problem. Rotten stringers. The big question! Does anyone know why Formula has about a 1/2 gap between the stringers and the hull? In another post some said that Formula that to help with shock absorbtion.
Anyway doe not make sence to me seeing the glass roving flows from the stringer to the hull.

Help Any one know why?

Larry

they actually weren't that well built, I've been into a few of them and not been overly impressed. upside is some cutting and grinding and it can all be corrected. best to go back at it with traditional build methods and materials. don't bother with any roving stick with 1708 and vinylester.

Thanks glassdave.

I agree not well built . They did not even glass the back side of the stringer. Upside, easy to take apart!

Thanks

Larry
