Fiberglass crack help
I have a 98 Baja Hammer 454 mag with 292 hours and just noticed this stress crack about an inch off of the hull under the boat. Does anyone have any idea what this could be from and what needs to be done? Is it bad? Do you have any idea what this may cost? Thanks guys/gals

I'd say you probably whacked something in the water. You can take a dremel and lightly grind out the crack and use the West system two part epoxy to fill it, then spread it smooth with a fiberglass squeegee. It will dry just off white and will protect the crack.

Yea I usually have it up further I was in a hurry this past time taking it out. I did hit something last year while going very slow through a canal. You think I can handle doing it myself or should I pay someone

It's VERY easy. Just mask off around the a crack, just incase the dremel gets away from you. Take your time, go slowly and just give a slight indent to fill. After you get the crack ground out, squeeze out a bit of epoxy along the crack then squeegee it smooth with a plastic spreader. Let it dry then your done.

You need to grind all signs of the crack completely. Most likely all the way down to the fiberglass. Wipe with acetone and wee if the crack continues into the fiberglass, if so, some lamination will be required to do it right. Spectrum has does a good job of factory matched gelcoats. About $130 per QT, or $30 for a couple ounce paste kit. I am sure glassdave will chime in and give professional advice.
