Trust me...a clay bar is the best for overspray.

I have bad rash marks on my keel front of the center bunks from launching. Carpet is good, not really sure why such the rub besides the steep ramp I use (as stern floats, bow dips, weight on keel till off trailer). Anyway, I dont own a buffer. Clay bar perhaps for my issue too?

Does a clay bar take out "very very very minor" gel coat chalk?

Mine is what and there are a couple of dull spots-- I know a buffer with 3M buff and wax works -- but darn that buffer gets so heavy after a few minutes

thanks

I would try the clay bar first as well as a solvent. You could also try Collonite 920, which is the fiberglass boat cleaner. It removes bonded containments really well as well as oxidation.

You can also use a Nanoskin autoscrub pad. It's like a fancy claybar that has a special material on it that works like a claybar. They make towels and pads for dual action polishers. Will save you the arm workout and they work awesome.

What a clay bar does is takes off the contaminants that is on the paint. It leaves the finish smooth which makes it easier to polish. If you have chalky paint or gel, as long as the finish has no major contaminants you could just go ahead and buff it.

I ordered the autoscrub pad. If that doesn't work I'll go to the clay bar. I'll let you guys know how it works.
