This is a "paging Glassdave" moment.......but in my humble opinion, if it's the sides and top, aircraft paint (Like Imron or whatever they're calling it now) Hull bottom....always Gelcoat.

Running surfaces are limited to what you can do to change the color. The long and short of it is gel handles abrasion better then paint but its costly and time consuming to do it proper. Most epoxy boats are (or were) painted as there were no gels that worked with epoxy (although that has changed lately) Color change is a tough one even if you use gel its still not a perfect surface as it did not originate in the mold and you always run the risk of chips showing base color. Imron has always been the next best thing but ya cant soak the boat for more then a few days a week tops. If i was doing my personal boat it would be an arduously applied gel but to do something in the 38/40 foot range your looking at 10 to 15 thousand minimum for a quality job you could probably get paint for just shy of ten thou. Prep is the key no matter what you decide, sand sand and more sanding . . . . lots of it . . . .when you think it ready . . . . your only half way there lol. It is a horrible back breaking finger bending chore that never seems to end and if it does not seem that way while your do'in it then your not doing it right lol
what are you trying to change to what?
what are you trying to change to what?
