Lifting a 242SS

I am going to paint strip the bottom of my 1991 242SS and re-do with some hi-performance stuff. Anyway, I want to get the boat up off the trailer enough to get under the bunks and everything.

Are there particular places where the hull should be supported? Places that should be avoided?

I have blocks under the keel at the transom and boat stands at the chines about 2 feet forward of the transom. I have another set of blocks further up under the bow. In total the boat is resting on 4 places. I figure that I will add a few more supports before I get underneath.

Good enough? Any advice?

BLOCK IT LIKE THEY DO AT THE BOAT SHOWS.
Talk to your local dealer and they might be able to provide the blocks...FOR a FEE

Sounds right based on my cruiser years. you may want the chain the stands together so they cannot be pulled out from under the boat while you are under there.

Sounds like good advice, maybe overkill, but if those stands skid you'll be "overkilled"

Listen Man... as I think about it, if those stands decide to move, they're going to go at the top, not skid at the bottom. So, you should cinch them together from top to top. This will get in your way but, you have to move the stands anyway. Good quality rope should do, chains would obviously not be desireable against the gelcote.

Bottom grime is not worth never boating again, so take precautions dude.

I always just used 3 bolcks, 1 under each chine right at the transom and one under the bow. The biggest I ever blocked this way was a 382 and no problems, worked in and under the boat that way. I aint sying that more blocks is a bad idea at all, I'm just telling you what my experience is.
