Dukenrock's Vacation

Some of you know his truck broke in KY Friday on the way to the Pickwick,TN Poker Run. He borrowed a truck and made it down late Sat. Well, his truck won't be repaired till Friday so he and Kelly have been vacationing at Pickwick Lake, staying at the marina on the 382 and cruising the lake every day. Only Kevin could turn a hard luck trip into a nice vacation

Re: Duckenrock's Vacation

Robert,
Just got off the phone with the dealership in KY, part just cam in 8:30 am today. Truck won't be done till Friday AM. Kelly and I have gone through over 400 gallons of fuel and still counting. Have had some beautiful weather, met some great people. We spent a couple of days with Thomas and his wife (And Steve, the Boatler) Incredible bad luck turned to good! Made some great lemonade out of lemons. I have a bunch of great pics I'll post when I get some time. Boat is running incredible. Only problem is the generator is surging, (Minor gov adjustment?) and the head pump is always kicking on like there's a small air leak. Otherwise perfect. Sorry we missed you down here.

As for the gen-set surge. Try adjusting that little screw about 1/4 turn while it is running (you know, the little screw right about there...no, not that one...yes, that one! )

As for the head pump.....spray some soapy watery around the point where the PVC elbow goes into the tank. I bet you will see a leak there. Loosen the clamp and be sure it is seated right, then re-clamp. If that is not it, bew sure the spring loaded do-hickey pressure relief thing-a-ma-bob is closing all the way. Those are the only two things I have found to leak to cause the pump to cycle too much.

Sounds like Morgan Freeman in "Driving Miss Daisy"...

Re: Duckenrock's Vacation

Troutly,
Thanks for the tips. I know which screw you're speaking of, I'll give it a turn. I think I also know which elbow you are thinking of. I'll get some Gorilla Glue and Dippity Doo and stuff it in the hole! Thomas's boat was doing the same thing and he told me he used some silicone and it did the trick. Man, what an awesome week!!!

Re: Duckenrock's Vacation

For anyone following this thread, this is the man that saved my ass. I would have been back in Indiana if it wasn't for his southern hospitality. Eric, I was just getting ready to call you and let you know we made it back to Ft. Wayne. Kelly and I can't thank you and Tammy enough for all of your help. You really turned the bad situation into a good one for us. I hope antyone that goes through what we did can experience the kindness you extended to us. I owe you one, BIG! Kelly and I will have to show you and Tammy a good time on the boat....SOON! Thanks again and I'll be posting pics of the trip. (I gave Eric and Tammy the OSO website info. It's only a matter of time now! )

Re: Duckenrock's Vacation

FYI.....Eric was the second tow truck driver. No doubt one of the nicest rigs I have ever been towed by. I'll post pics of it after I get unpacked. (First tow truck drivers were pretty scary at first, but ended up being some nice folks! Pic's of them too)
