drives

i have a 2003 292 fastech and am not sure if the trim on the drives should go higher than 5. With the throttle switch they stop at five with the trailer switches they stop at 8 1/2. I think there is a short that is stopping them but i'm not sure. any opinions would be appreciated

Re: drives

I think that they are preset that way so you won't hit the ladder on the swim platform.

Seems to me I heard that somewhere but not certain.

These settings are pre set at the factory, You should not run the drives past the trim setting or you will stress the gimbal bearing, U joint and coupler!!!

Re: drives

Like Formuladude312 said, don't run the engine with it trimmed up to trailer position. Besides all noise it makes, the univesal joints don't like it and you could wear/tear a hole in the bellows. Then you'd have a real problem on your hands and give your bilge pump a workout.

Re: drives

I believe that the location of the trim indicator cables on the transom limit the height that you can trim up the drives on the 292
