292SR1 The BOAT or what

I have had Wellcraft Crisscraft and others and really like this boat. Does anyone know what perform. upgrades would make the most diff. on this boat. --- I wonder if the C Bay will get above 70degrees this year

HORSE POWER !!!! Always What about 3 blade -4 blade , or Exhaust manifolds or headers, Cams and carbs, Read all the takes on Silent thunder - Like the idea of bigger holes in the bottom
Thanks Third Bird -- How fast is this thing anyway? I need a speed-o too

Re: 292SR1 The BOAT or what

As the name would imply I have an '89. You will love it. 24 degree V a smooth ride.

Stock 365 Mags w/ Stainless Marine, Imco nosecones Mirage + 25's, Holley flame arrestors (otherwise stock). A steady 70MPH boat...........................smooth at that speed, no chine walk. Best with 2 -3 ft chop 73 on GPS. Pretty decent for an older boat with drives set deep by todays standards.

Not much room in the engine compartment a downside. Try to find one with the 365 HP Mags (4 bolt main) vs 330 HP 2 bolt main. The former will live longer.

Agree with above. More HP would be nice

Just what the Dr asked for - Got some more? Where do you run your boat? Big water?

Lake Ontario/1000 Islands.

Water can get nasty in the big pond.

Really a well balanced boat. I do not use tabs except for passenger load at lower speeds or BIG water at speed.

Where are you going to run yours?

Lake O Man it had to be COLD today. That is fresh water - Right? I find that tabs are better left at - flat, so when the big one comes- they don't have as far to go ~~~~

I do wish the cabin was a little taller. Have you done any steering work to yours? Did the nose cones really help?

Re: 292SR1 The BOAT or what

Put on an Imco tie-bar, otherwise stock. Probably good insurance for the gimbals.

I would lose the stock Merc exhaust first (heavy and restrictive), then try the nosecones.

Warming up nicely here.

Boat has tie bar , and boy would i love to loose the cast iron, What kind do you have? Right now I would like is a warm dry day to try out the new steering. Ready to put the boat though it's paces -so to get a base line. Need speedo or GPS
Does the water ever get warm enough to swim in -- 78 or better?

Good luck with the boat.

Search the older threads and you will pick up lots of info.
