How much to reupholster the engine hatch?

I got a quote from Formula of ~$800 for the vinyl covering which I could then install myself. Anyone else had theirs done by a shop, and what did it cost?

There was a post I think by cuds with pictures that talked about and showed exactly what he did--super well done project.

The fabric Formula uses isn't anything unique--it's standard marine vinyl avaiable almost everywhere. Find a good shop like cuda did--you can't do it yourself for less.

Re: How much to reupholster the engine hatch?

I had three stipes done on my 272 last year. paid over $1000 for the repaire but looks great. make sure if you do it, compensate when copying the patters for the years of stretch or at the end of the season it will be baggy and look just like every other revinyl job. the guys that did mine assured me they would take in the patters and after two seasons it still looks perfect.......

also, if you have colors, make sure you verify the match outside in sunlight. flourescents make color hues different and what looks like a match inside will NOT match in the sunlight. i struggled with a yellow as it looked greaner in their building , then we took the swatch outside and it matched perfect. glad I did that.....

I got everything direct from Mcleod Design.com for about half of what Formula wanted. All I had to do was staple it on.

Thanks for the tip...they're the ticket; original supplier to Formula for 15+ years. Just gave them the hull serial #, and they know exactly what to make...

My boat is a 95 303 with KeyWest graphics and has the same hatch as yours. I did the hatch, foward caryover,
all four pillows and all three pieces of the back seat. I also changed the entire dash from black to white and had the boat graphics put above the glove box. It made the boat look like new. Good luck!
