Still looking for a new boat
Well after a 20 hour road trip we ended up not buying the 1997 382 fastech it just wasn't as clean as I was expecting. It wasn't a wasted trip. I was still able to spend some time with my father, something we haven't done for a while.
So we are still in the market for a new boat. We know it will be a formula but that is about all we know. Looking for a 1995 or newer 336,353,382 sr-1 or fastech. Can be complete or a project. I have looked on Boattrader, Boats.com, and here on OSO. If you know of any others please let me know.
Thanks
Don

Re: Still looking for a new boat
Hi Don.......What are you exactly looking for in a boat and what are you wanting to pay for a prestine one. I have seen prestine one going for anywhere from $99000.00 to $129000.00 between the years of 1997 to 1999. I am looking for a prestine low hours 357SR1 between 1990 and 1993. I just went through the same ordeal that you did flying to jacksonville florida to see a perfect low hours, fresh water boat (167hrs only) and was told several times by the owner it is perfect and when I got there the silent thunder swim platform was damaged, chips in the gelcoat, torn fabric and so on and that costed me by the time I was done $850.00 dollars on nothing and all the owner told me is that you know you are buying a used boat not new one. These seller need to learn what a perfect boat is and what a average boat is. Thanks Bob in Michigan

Re: Still looking for a new boat
I should have put he dollar valve in place:
I have a buget of $90,000 for a perfect turn key 353 or 382 fastech
or reasonable price for a 382 SR-1 or 336. I would really like to find a boat I could turn into a project boat similar to what I did with my 311.
Bob-
If you would consider a 311 I have one in perfect condition. It is in the classified section. Just a thought......

Re: Still looking for a new boat
If you raise your budget, I've got a near perfect '99 382 here is Sarasota. Zero hours on new 500 EFI's (still at Innovation), rebuilt drives with X gears (also @ Innovation), brand new CMI headers.
Silent Choice units are being rebuilt at Corsa.
I did all of this because the headers leaked water into the exhaust intakes. Rather than dick around with a half -assed patch job, I decided to completely re-do everything to "as-new" condition.
Oh. And I just had the cabin headliner replaced for $3,500.
So I've just spent $40 K to make her pristine.
I'm the original owner, and the boat is on a lift at my house.

Re: Still looking for a new boat
In looking for your new boat I know you set a top price for what you want to spend total. Have you checked with loan companies about what they are offering. My friend Melanie Jolles at Beacon Marine Credit offers different programs, that may work for you.. You can sometimes spend a little more and keep payments right where you want them her number is 866-523-2266. Tell her that I told you to call. she really hooked me up and a few others from the board ...Rob
