353 Fastech Question for pwrbotr
I am trying to have a/c installed on my 2001 353 this week and have a few questions regarding location. The shop doing the install is reluctant to cut holes to run the duct work and I am running out of options. I looked through the 353 at the Miami in-water show and see that they used a Marine Air 5k Vector Compact mounted under the U-shape couch cushion. Formula put 2 tiny ducts in the Vberth and 2, 3 inch ducts where the cup holders are towards the cabinet on the port side and near the head on the starboard side. This guy is telling me that he cannot get there w/o cutting and he is afraid. Any suggestions? Is the boat built around the factory a/c?
Also, does 3,700.00 sound about right? 1,700.00 for the unit, the rest for labor and misc parts.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I would think ..yes the build the boat around the ductwork ...along with everything else .. .. I have seen units for 1200+ I dont think you'll be able to mimic the factory setup. I'm sure someone will chime in with a 353 ..... 3700 seems a tad high ... have your priced around the state ? Hell .. james should have a SawZall ....Sawzall and some Gorilla Glue ....we'll get that sucka in there ........

Jame's,
I have worked with Formula's for the past 5 years, those prices are not bad at all, with the work involved in getting the boat to look stock again, it takes alot of time and energy. That is why most people who buy a new 353 or 382 order AC from the factory, EASIER INSTALL with the top deck off. You are going to love how the 353 handles open water!!! ENJOY.
