Default Silent Thunder question

Has anyone ever routed exhaust pipes through the Silent Thunder platform so they connect to the pipes coming out of the transom? I've got one for an 87 206LS which I took off due to drag and rattles. Any ideas?

Re: Silent Thunder question

Thanks!! That is exactly what I was looking for. It looks like a few fabricated pieces and standard exhaust hose. Sounds easier said than done. This may be a side project.

If I remember it right, he had to have custom tips made for the outlet ends (the square tips). I don't recall all he did to complete it. Try searching or any other threads by him.

I spent some time searching old postings today and I found a lot of info. Check these out and see if it sells you. It looks like Ramb. originally drilled some holes through the baffles to add a little noise. Later it appears his boat sprouted wings and busted the platform when it landed. From here I think is when he went with the routed pipes. I'M SOLD!

I am working on this same project and I just got some new tips in for a diffrent look. Tell me what you think. I am going to use a coragated exhaust hose so it will bend inside the platform. I`m using a dremal to cut the inside it works great.

Looks good, I guess your putting flappers over that tip? How much does that piping cost? I read in one forum that flexible exhaust hose runs around $1.75 per inch! Yikes. Are those tips the same size as you would find on the transom? How did the square to round transfer go?

Disregard the flapper question. I finally opened my eyes and saw the internal flapper in the close up.

I'm leaving mine alone. I like it just the way it is.
Well, maybe I'll cut the baffles out.
Beyond needing new transom and exhaust seals it's just fine.
