242 Repower Continued

Is anyone running anything around 600HP in a 242? If so, what drive and prop are you using and what kind of performance are you seeing? I've found the guy who's going to build my engine for my offseason project. I'm just wondering what to expect for results.

We're going to bore out my 454 mag .060 and stroke it to 496ci. New roller cam, intake, carb, and Dart aluminum heads. He's built a few of these and is seeing 630HP on the dyno.

Re: 242 Repower Continued

A friend did the same thing with his 242. Took the 454 mag and bored, stroked to a 496, dart aluminum heads, brodix single plane intaked, roller valve train, with-out headers 550hp. With a 1.5 bravo and a 26p Hydromotive Q4 he was seeing just about 70-72 gps. That is pretty good considering the the 242 is a heavy single. Good luck
