272 with 320 EFIs
http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/7/7/85800277.htm
Came across this one on Boat Trader. Love the idea of 640HP but I searched and read the horror stories about the EFI setup. If it works it works great, if somebody didn't take care of the manifold they're in for a world of hurt; does that about cover it?
I guess the engines were a big $ option originally, but I wonder if they should command such a premium these days? Oh, and the SS drives, still gotta read up on them.
Would the fact that it's already set up with EFI (electric pumps, ECUs) at least make it a good candidate for a modern EFI setup? (visions of Vortec 6000 dancing in my head )

Re: 272 with 320 EFIs
EDIT: forgot to ask what this setup should perform like? Speed, handling, etc.
Yeah, I've read most if not all of Cuda's and Sonic30ss' (?) trials and tribulations. I'm sufficiently scared, but not totally turned off...yet. I'm an EFI guy from my car racing, so I'm more comfortable with that. Of course I'll be less comfortable if these things wore a hole in my wallet
Not to mention the Alpha SS drives. But it sounds like they're not impossible to replicate as long as the driveshaft doesn't break. The upper gears are Alpha stock (HD available) and the lower unit can be replicated with an outboard piece. Am I correct on this?
Thanks,
Michael

Re: 272 with 320 EFIs
I'd pull the Efi units put on some good intakes and carbs. The engines are the exact same thing as the 300 hp Tempest engines made at that time. All good parts in it.
