Default A/C in a 312 Fastech

built a cabinet to house the duct work...........ran the ducting through the storage compartment and into the cabinet. Created dual air discharges, one forward, one rear......finished pics to come.

Removed the porta potti and installed a 5000 BTU Cruisair unit....plumbed the water pickup and wiring through the Heads overboard discharge hose leading to the bilge. Used the same thru hull fitting as a pick-up for the water supply. Removed the starboard bench seat in the cabin to install the AC water discharge out the side......

turn pic sideways......

Created a new face panel hold the cold air return grill. Found the same fabric so everything would match.
NOTE: The factory cushion had to be altered to account for the cabinet........

Mounted the controls where we could reach them while in bed and keep the kids from hitting them when horsing around in the cabin......

Spent a month designing/creating this set-up...used the AC 4 times and sold the boat 3-4 months later.
Bought a loaded 382 so all's good!

Real nice , well thought out installation. Looks almost factory.
Now the question..what about the potty? Is it now gone? I've considered removing my fridge since I don't use it. That would also give me more storage as well as air.

We overnight a fair amount. The porta potti was a pain in the AZZ...literally, I couldn't fit in the space. Butt cheeks too wide for the compartment and the bulk head was too low so you had to stay crouched over. Ended up strapping down the unit on the floor right in front of where the unit was on the floor. Gave you more room and worked out great. I also built an extension to the bed that stuck out about 2 feet. It allowed us to sleep further down instead of up in the point of the bow. The porta potti was actually kept under that extension.

I know what you mean about the portapoty. In my 272 you have to be a contorsionist to use it . I like to meet the designer. That's one of the few complaints I have with the boat.

If you've been in a 312 the layout is very similar to yours. Instead of "dealing with it", I just upgraded to the 382!
