Starboard
Anyone know a good place to buy starboard? As in the stuff that is white and looks kind of like a white piece of plywood, not the right side of a boat?
I found one place on the internet that wanted $420 for a 4x8' piece of 1/2" thick. Not having priced this stuff before, I was a little shocked.
Thanks,
Garrett

Buy pvc board. I've worked with both, the pvc is stronger, lighter, and best of all, you can glue it together. NOTHING will glue starboard. Oh yeah, pvc board is cheaper too.

The thicker starboard you get, the price goes up, and up. Sounds like the pvc board cuda refers to is an option I will look at. Need to get some here in the next couple weeks. Thanks cuda.

I buy it at the same place I bought the starboard. It's called Farco Plastics in Orlando, they also have a store in Clearwater. Do a search in your area of plastic suppliers, and you should find one. It had a name brand on it, but it's pvc board. I wished I had found out about it before I built a sundeck and rear seat from starboard. I had some left over, so I made a sundeck for my Formual 20 SC I was fooling with for years. All I had was half inch, which had too much flex for to span the distance I needed for the sunpad, so I just took some other extra half inch I had, and glued it to the big piece with the exact same glue you use to put sprinkler lines together.

Here is the coolest thing I made for the F20. I made a "trunk" so I could keep handling lines and such in it, so I wouldn't have to get in the boat to get them. I used ss piano type hinges I bought off ebay. I left a gap between the trunk and the sunpad, so when I upholstered it, it could still open. I miss fooling around with that boat.

Try this place. marinesurplusinc.com They are in Sarasota and Ft.Myers. If it is the place I'm thinking of, they sell odd shapes and sizes that are leftvovers from boat builders. Should be much cheaper than buying a 4X8 sheet.
Good luck!
