Griz,
Thanks for the in put ... what motors (hp) and is this a 311 and what do you top out at both rpms and mph?
Do have a problem getting out of the hole in the beginning?
The reason i ask is our other 311 in the group put big power into his boat this summer with trs drives and he is running 26 bravos ..... night and day difference between the original setup 420s w/trs vs 585s w/trs drives. I am wondering if you have bigger power than I do which is stock 330s?
Jeff

Hi Jeff. Mine's an '89 292. [Close but we're not playing horseshoes here.] She's been reworked with '98 502MPIs and '03 Bravo1s. Never had 'em on a dyno but the guy who rebuilt the motors said they should be making 450hp. I'm not sure as I never ran the boat with anything else. Top end is 5200rpm @ 78mph. Is a little slow out of the hole especially with a load but I'm so pleased with mid-range response and cruising characteristics I'm afraid to change anything. Good luck.

Thanks Third. No offense that's for sure. I doubt seriously if she'd last very long trying that topend every weekend and obviously the conditions have to be right here at LOTO so it's not really real world like some of these boats, but I spend 90% of my time cruising at 3k anyway.
The old guy that built these motors spent 35 years rebuilding Catepillar engines so relatively speaking he knows what he's doing.

My friends 311 with 500HP's was 78-79 mph GPS at 5200 with labbed 25P 3 blades, they seemed to best all around, i am pretty sure any 4 blade would cost some top end over a 3 blade, but better plane and cruise for sure with a 4 blade. I am not an expert but thats the experience I have had.
I am also pretty sure spinning the drives in will lift the transom some, that is the theory anyway.

I have a '90 292 with 454 mags. I really like the 24p Bravo1's.
The holeshot, cruise speed and mid range acceleration improved dramatically with those 24p Bravo1's. I looked at the Hydro's but after talking to alot of people, I rolled the dice on the 24 Bravo's and won! BTW, the only thing done to my motors is Stainless Marine exhaust, which also helped alot! Good luck!
