Default Cockpit drains 357

I'm washing the cockpit of the boat today and I notice the cabin is full of water. I see the water going into the drains under the rear seat, but insted of draining into the engine bilge it is all running forward into the cabin. I take a closer look at the drains and there are no hoses attached to them, they are just draining down along the sides of the gas tank ahead of the rear bulkhead. How are these drains supposed to work ? Should they have hoses or are there supposed to be holes in that bulkhead to let it drain to the rear ? This bulkhead (between tank and engines) has been rebuilt so perhaps they did something wrong or left the hoses off. Thanks for the help.

mine does not have hoses for the back drain. But they sure works to get the water in the bilge towards the transom, but! You need to put the bow pretty high, actually higher than I though to drain it towards the transom. As far as water in cabin, I have a bilge pump under the step in the cabin. there is always one inche of water that sits there unless I wipe it of. but this same water really can't go towards the transom, even nose up in the air...

So try nose up high for cockpit, engine comp water, for cabin, make sure you have a pump, and make sure it pumps!

Hope it helps!

I've got the bow up pretty high. I always thought that was the problem, but after looking into it I don't think thats the problem. The two drains under the rear seat drain down in front of the rear bulkhead and this bulkhead doesn't have any holes to let the water drain to the rear. There doesn't seem to be any way for water to drain to the rear of the boat no matter how high the bow is. It seems like there needs to be holes in the rear bulkhead to let water drain to the engine bilge.

There are two TINY drains under step in cabin on each side of keel-like thing. Make sure they are cllean and that bow is high or canin will flood. Also make sure drain plug is out when storing boat or bilge pump will run and drain battery and/or burn out pump causing even worse flooding.

the drains under the back seat don't have hoses on them but drops in front of bulkhead (see picture) But I do have holes (one on each side) in the bulkhead just in the corner where the first stringer from transom to bulkhead meets together.

If you need anything else let me know.

That is probably my problem, I don't have those holes in the bulkhead. Describe again where the holes are. Are they on each side of the middle stringer (under fuel tank) or at the outboard stringers ?
