Default Top Speed?

What should be top speed of 382, 500 EFI's fully loaded with fuel, gen, fully loaded fresh water, and crap tank?

I ran my boat yesterday, and got to 70-71, gps, trimmed to 3 in intercostal ww.

Cruise at 3500 was 49mph I think. Port motor was surging, needs fuel pump.

Max rpm was 4800.

Boat shot out of water without tabs very quick. Not sure what props are on it, checked survey, and said 4 blades bravo 28 p

What are others running? Is this about average? I am pleased, I hope it is a good starter offshore boat for me.

Boat should spin to about 5,000 (maybe 5,200). It can't be 49 at 3,500 on GPS....was that a regular speedo? Very low 70's will be about it with your full load. 28's are correct but they may need to be balanced unless you know they have been done recently. (Throttle Up or BBlades)

I don't have a gen and see 50 at 3,300-3,400 and 82-84 with 630HP spinning 32's at 5,000.

So thats who was running over there. I've got some friends that live right off the intercoastal, one of them mentioned someone running a big boat the other day.

David and I ran the boat two Tuesdays ago I think. We met at the Intercoastal locks under the bridge going towards Plaquemine.

He pulled the boat to the locks, and I met him there. We backed the boat in, to try the batteries, because we had not charged them. They were both dead, so I pulled a battery off of my truck, used it to boost the generator, and then cranked both engines.

We ran the boat west in the intercoastal, but it was pretty cold out, so we cut the run short.

Where do your friends live on the IC?

Both motors are out, having valve springs changed, heads machined, new head gaskets.

Also having clear coat repaired on top of deck over graphics. Previous owner stored outside without cover, and the clear coat was peeling up at spots.

Detailer is cleaning bilge with motors out, and buffing gelcoat, total detail while motors are out.

The boat will be in much better shape than when I bought it.

Mechanic said that Drive couplers are in bad shape, the splines are thin and getting pointed, so I am changing both of them also.

Once I get her back together, I will have to work with the props to adjust rpm and speed.

I am getting a good introduction to the costs of performance boating!

1-Sorry about your 'introduction', but, with all these problems, have you no recourse against the person who surveyed this boat for you??

2-One positive thought is that by buying from an individual, then no tax was involved. So, I'm happy for you that you didn't have to pay tax AND then the refurbishments. Poo-yie.
