Are you still turning the props out?

Have you tried turning them in yet?

I am running 509's NA aprox 650 hp with IMCO 12" extension boxes and -2" Spormaster shorties. Best so far is 89.6 with a stock 32" Bravo 1 4 blade turning in. I haven't tried them turning out yet, but plant to do so, soon. Motors will turn up to 6000 rpm's, but I'd like to be around 5400 and in the 90's.

Thoughts?

Dave

Hey Dave, we turn the props inward on a stock 353 w/525`s and actually loss top end speed, Formula told us it was because of how the boat bottom was made.........................

Well, I know I should try it both ways again....When I changed out the Bravo's to XR's I had heard that I would lose a couple mph because of the straight cut gears, so I turned them in to make up the difference. Maybe it just doesn't like it? I'll change it back this weekend and report back!

Thanks,
Dave

I have a friend with a 353 with procharged/carbed 509 CI running 97 gps last year, he has Imco boxes and 2" Imco shorties, we figured he was around 700 hp, must be more since it runs 97? that is with labbed 32P 4 blades, not sure on rpm, I think 5100-5200..
Correction, If anyone cares?

1" shorties, 1.36 ratio, labbed 30" bravos/stamped 32"(how I got them..)spinning out, @5200 rpm.

The boat is going back together with some improvements, looking for triple digits of course.

I've run mine up to 92.
Had 6 people, coolers and 3/4 fuel onboard.
I have bravo 1's labbed by BBlades to 33 p but I think I can turn 34's.
500 EFI's w/ Whipples and Imco Extreme SC drives.
To be honest I'm not really interested in going too much faster in the 353.
