Default 2009 Bravo 3 props

Got in 2 -2009 Formulas today. The forward props were 4 blade, rear prop was 3 blade, but different 3 blade from last year. What's up with that? Obviously for a performance improvement, but no one told me anything about a change. What is the deal?

Robert,

If there is something you don't know about a Formula, may God help us all!

That would be the Bravo3 XR props...Read something about being for high end B3 app.

Lookie what I found...Bravo Three XR®
Overview
Utilizing the same mounting hardware these new propellers can be used on standard Bravo Three, X and XR. Recommended to run on big boats with big power (496 through 525HP). Enormous cup is built in to the trailing edges of both front and rear props offering tremendous planing performance in addition to some of the best mid-ranging cruising numbers you'll ever see. Top end numbers are generous for most applications and if you plan on switching from the standard Bravo Three (example 26" pitch) to the new Bravo Three XR (plan on running a 25" XR) to match the RPM of the standard 26 pitch.

My props don't have XR on them, they are not polished, just the old satin finish, and my 09 240 BR only has a 350 Mag,the 310BR has twin 377mags(6.2's)and the drives are just plain B3's. As I said, should have gone to the dealer meeting

Magicfloat, the B3 props are the next generation B3 props offered by Mercury Marine. Not as aggresive and performance oriented as the B3 XR's, but definately props that I can say offer considerably less "blow-out" and more out-of-the-hole/mid-range punch over the traditional 3 blade/3blade.

To my knowledge, Formula and Cobalt are the only two OEM's currently utilizing these next generation B3 props for their '09 boats.

They did not talk about the new props at the meeting, but you might have missed something different
