Default Box Anchor for 2nd Rear Anchor - 353

Hey Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has a Box Anchor for their 353 that they use for a rear anchor? Do you think i can get away with the Small 19lb box anchor for a 2nd anchor?? Thanks!!

I bought the medium sized for the main anchor on my 292. It holds like a rock and I fully recommend the box anchor. A small second anchor would due fine.

They make a small, a large, and an extra large.
The small holds my 312 fine but in sand or silt my 353 needs the large anchor.
That is using it as a primary so the small may be OK as a second.
I say better safe than sorry. Go bigger.

I have an aluminum Fortress for the main. Do you know if the Small Box anchor would fit in the Storage compartment in the Very back by the swim platform?? I am thinking of keeping it under the seat, but having it in the very back would be handy!!

If you're talking about the trunk area where the shore power plug-in and the transom shower is then no, it will not fit there.

I put mine in the storage bag it comes with along with 100' of line, under the bench seat.

I use the anchor rope to cushion the anchor.

That is exactly what i was thinking, what size line did you put with the Small one on your 312 - 1/2"? I put 5/8 braid on my fortress up front which i believe is way overkill but better safe than sorry.

I use a Model 30 Hydrobubble as a second hook. Its a 2-piece plow anchor - aluminim stock and stainless blade, weighs very little, and comes apart to store basically flat. I'm not sure that they make them any more, but it has worked like a champ for me in rocks, weeds, sand and mud. We stopped a raftup of four 35' cruisers with it when their anchors got tangled and we tore loose in a wind storm. Even though they show it in the picture, no chain required, so you can heave it a country mile if you need to.
