Actually I think the 242 became the 271 and the 272 became the 292. The newer models include the swim platform in the length the older models did not.

I just purchased an 89 272 sr-1. The boat is in amazing shape for its age!! only 312 hrs!!

How does the water system work? i traced the water line to a compartment under the bedding area in the bow, however the line just goes into an empty compartment. Also, I have a box in the closet for shore power/120v/etc, but cannot locate a battery charger nor shore power hook up. What gives there?

Thanks
Sorry for the highjack w my first post lol

The hose for the water system hooks up to a 5 gallon jug that is in the v-birth. Sounds like your missing the jug! No idea about the other issue.

I have a stock 91 272 with twin 330s, goes like a dream and pretty sensible if you are on a budget. The main difference between the 91 and 89 is the interior. my 91 has head rests on the engine cover and bench seat is designed to hold you in a bit more and some other minor interior tweaks. nothing major. A lot of the colour schemes in 91 seemed to be pink/yellow/turquoise. Palm beach or something like that?! The older ones seem to be more bold colours like red/black/grey etc.

I like the 91, i think it looks a bit more classic and hardcore than than the mid 90s..only my opinion though!!
