383 stroker scorpion update.
i had the 292 out for its first run with the new motors. a full tank of gas and three people on board , water had a decent chop. i had the boat up to 76mph. i still had quite a bit of trim left and trottle left to go. i dont think i will be able to turn 6000rpm"s with the 28p props. Brad at bblades did some work on them but he feels i will have to go down to 27's. firts let me say all the planing problems are gone, she planes very fast and easy. Mid range is awesome and the boat feels like its working less. i am running the captains call with stainless marine exhaust and i removed the baffles in the mufflers. when she is at idlewith the exhaust open she sounds awesome. you can hear the idle of the cam. This week i am going to push her to se how much rpm i Can get, mercury would like to see me turn 5800 to 6000. i will post some pictures of the motors , i had the valve covers and the plenum covers powder coated blue they look really nice. it just feels like a different boat. This hull deserves more power, i wish formula would realize that. i will keep you guys posted.

Yes I agree 292 handles power well. I have a 2006 with carberated 377s about 425hp each and ran 82gps at 5800rpm with 30 bravo ones and boat handles well at that speed. I am sure your boat with scorpions will run 80+ tuned in and light. with a boat load full of fuel and people mine will run about 78mph at 5600rpm. Keep use updated!

the boat was running 76 on the gps speedo, the motors were bought directly from mercury. as far as the props i would think that the 30p props would be better then going to 27's why does brad form bblades feel the the 27's would be better for the boat. what are your guys thoughts on that. i didnt get a good look at the rpm's. do you think these scorpions are just as powerfull as the 377 scorpions ? let me your thoughts.

The 377 Scorpion from Mercury Racing has a WOT RPM range of 4800-5200 and the 383 stroker Scorpion has a WOT RPM range of 5600-6000.
Furthermore it seems you have been recommended to try to achieve 5800-6000 RPM which is at the higher end of the WOT RPM range.
So to get to the 5800-6000 RPM range you will generally speaking need a smaller pitch prop. My guess is you will need a 26" to 28" prop.
I think it is important to find out what your current max RPM is using your current props, to use that as a baseline to estimate your new props.
Regarding power it seems the 383 stroker Srorpion is rated at 400 HP at the crankshaft where the 377 Scorpion was rated at 377 HP.

EXPENSIVE DATE I did use stock block crank and rods. Put 10 to 1 hypereutectic pistons, ARP fastners, crane roller marine cams about 230 duration at .050 and 550 lift simular to scorpion cams 200cc e-tec heads performer rpm intakes and 750 holleys with revalution marine exhaust manifolds. Yes I did all work myself. running stock 1.65 ratio bravo drives with add on hydralic steering. Like you also said makes the 292 alot more fun! planes easly midrange is stong and cruises at 65 to 70 easly! would like to add k-plane this year. I tore off factory tab last year at high speed in choppy waters of lake michigan!
