changing all fluids in f302
before i take this 84 f302 out i want to change all fluids .
what trans fluid should i use? and how do you check it when its hot like a car? how many quarts of trans fluid and oil plus filters. the motors are stock 454 330hp and trw drives thanks

The tranny fluid is type F ONLY! You check it with the motors off and the boat level as it would sit in the water. The amount of fluid will depend on if you have Merc transmisions or B/W ones. I think the B/W's are 2 quarts per transmisions. There are no filters in the transmisions.
For the motors I use Phram HP6 filters. They are the high performance ones. I run Mobil one 15-50 that I get from Walmart in 5 quart containers. You need a way to suck the oil out of the motor through the dipstick. I use a manual pump one as I think it makes less mess other guys use the electric pumps because they are faster. I think with the manual one you get a little more oil ouf of the pan as you can get the tube all the way down there.
