Replacing hatch hardware with gas shock or spring?
The hatch rod/set wheel that locks the hatch in the up position works fine but kinda a PIA for the kids to lock and unlock all the time. Would there be any reason I couldn't replace the old hardware with a gas strut or spring so it would simply pop up when you unlock the two levers holding it down? It seems simple enough, and I just noticed hatch springs and gas struts that look like they would work.
