Pondrunner,
Will see what I can do...possibly make a couple phone calls.

Ragged you out there? You think RB might have that still. I know it wasn't HIM that was selling the boat so not sure how to exactly pursue.
Factory is always pretty good for any questions too in case I hit a wall.

I can say you got a very CLEAN well cared for easy run boat...just remember to run the ol 91/93 in that bad larry and hammer down!

Yes, us NJ boaters are used to the bay picking up in the afternoon, so we're used to running in a little rougher of conditions. Never did I say to run 65 in 4-5 chop. I don't hit 65 in 1-2 chop. You can "cruise" comfortably in a 292 in 2-3 chop at 35-40. Your kidneys are going to bounced around a bit, but I can drive without having to play with the throttles.

pondrunner, are you friends with J.B? When he came down to the rendezvous in NJ this summer he mentioned he had a buddy he boats who has a 292. Think we have the same color scheme.

Hey Pondrunner, I bought my boat as a repo....no manuals on anything. Contact Formula for boat manuals, Mercury marine will supply engine & drive info ($25?) and your stereo and sirus radio owners/operating manuals, just Google your sterio model numbers and print out pdfs.

Do you actually steer with the drives trimmed up in turns and does this characteristic reduce its maneuverability relative to deepVs?
You should find the tab number that works for your boat my is 3, boats are different I have K tabs not stock.
do all your turns with the tabs in that position.
if you take a long level and put on you hull long enough to reach the end of the tabs.
adjust your tabs to hit the level and that is the number you want.

2 -4 footers should be no problem with that boat, flat and level will be a combo of tab and motor trim.

Default 292 Fastech Questions

I don't mean to hijack this thread so if that is what is considered by my question I apologize in advance.

I have read all of the above about the various points on a 292.

I am looking at a 2003 292 and the broker says it has 350 Mag MPI with 5,7 litre motors
I have looked at many 292s and they all seem to have 6.2 litre motors
Can someone clarify for me are the 6.2 big block and the 5.7litre small block or have I got this all screwed up.
I thought I had it right until the broker and his boss started to confuse me today
I don't want the blue 377 Scorpions as I understand there is more maintenance after a few hundred hours.
Can someone help me understand the difference in the 350 Mags 5.7 l vs the 6.2 l
Thanks in advance.

Further to my above post I have read through all the 292 posts on this forum tonight and I believe the 5.7 and 6.2 are both considered to be classed as small blocks. Am I correct?
If so depending on the prop there seems to be some issues to get on plane with the 292s - 26 prop seems to be better than 28.
With the 5,7 is this going to be more of a problem than with the 6.2s?

I have an 02 292 with 5.7 350 mags. Both 6.2 and 5.7 are small blocks. 6.2 is only 20-30 hp better per engine from what I understand. I have the 26p 4 blade props. I have seen 68mph GPS on glass and no wind 3/4 fuel and 2 passengers. Getting on plane takes a little while but isn't too bad. Tabs and drives all the way down and let her rip until she gets on plane.
