New Owner Formula 382 Fastech Needs Good Advice
 

Hello I just Purchased my First FORMULA 382 Fastech 1994
Its a ONE Owner boat with 250 hours and 502 EFI Boat is in perfect shape. Runs like New!
Please let me know what to pay special interest in maintaining the boat
I Also want to Upgrade the Gauges, Levers and put new plates from Livorsi. Do i have to rewire or it would plug in to the old harnes???

Congrats, I got my 382 at the end of last season and LOVE IT!


What motors are you running? the 94's are the pre-fastech hull. I agree the gauges suck, im hoping to make it through this season before i swap all mine out. If you need factory formula stuff scott at formula has been a great help to me.

If it's a 1994, wouldn't it be a 382 SR-1? The Fastech designation started with the stepped hulls in 1998.

Assuming that the engines are 502 Magnums (415 propshaft hp), I would think that it would run in the mid- to upper-60's...

Assuming that the gauges say "Gaffrig", Livorsi does have a program where they will re-face the gauges and install new bezels, usually for less than a new gauge. Regardless, i would call Livorsi and speak with their sales guys - they will sort you out.

I assume that a 1994 382 SR 1 has VDO gauges

so upgrading to Livorsi`s is a good deal

I would go with Monster size gauges like 2011 Model

Learn to twin-screw. Dont wait until a day when their are a bunch of boats in a tight cove to try and learn.

Other than that, change all the fluid (engine and drives) up front to get started and just keep em all topped off. Pay attention to any significant change in levels.

yeah i second this.... take ALOT of time with whoever your going to be out with all the time to get used to the "boat ramp" side of things. Twin screws is the best! moving around the docks jam'n into a slip or loadn on the trailer with the 382 is SOOOOO smooth.

I dont know what power your running but the minute i pull into the marina with the HP500's growln everyone either wants to watch your every move or wants you to shut down and be quiet..... so dont be that guy who takes 3 shots to hit the mark. hehehehe (my buddy is that way.... its not docked unless he takes 2 runs at it no matter what boat he is runnin).:evilb:

Thanks Guys For all replays:) Im running 502 with 415hp 230hours its a one Owner boat previous owner said that it goes 68-69mph max and cruise at 45-46mph. i have last work sheets of what was done to the boat recently So if you gus can look at them and tell me if its good or bed or regular stuff that goes bad on thoes models? First thing i will do when ill get the boat in the water sometimes next week is to how to Dock this thing cause its freekin Long;P
and ofcourse how to twin screw this beast:)
I hope it will bring me alot of joy running it on a nice days.
ill post some pic next week and in another couple weeks ill get the new dash and gauges!!! The old VDO sucks!
