Default 311-SR-1 value

Need a little help guys, been out of the loop a while.I am tradng in a 1988 311 SR-1 that I traded in from the original owner and sold to a friend, now I am trading in in on my 2004 353.It is a Bravo boat, new Jasper Engines 420 re-mans about 4 years ago.Boat is clean, original Palm Beach Imron, original upholstery. I need a range of price that is realistic to move. The couple of 311's i've seen are crazy thru the roof pricing ,some are 35K and that's just nuts IMHO.What do you guys think is a realistic range? Thanks,Robert

Hey Robert ~ I sold my 1989 311 in 2009 (bad economy and all) for 34K on a 2001 aluminum trailer. It was a very clean boat, and had the original 420's with TRS drives with about 600 hrs. The boat was all fresh water use and boathouse kept on a lift. Hope this helps... Good luck with your deal!

I don't know if you can extrapolate a value from how I bought mine, but it might guide you a bit. Mine is an 87 311 with 650 hours, no trailer, fresh water all it's life, with 420 TRS drives. It is Imron 2 with dark blue as the primary color (color scheme added value to me). When I bought it, it needed the port side motor removed and rebuilt (had a knock). It also needs a couple of other minor things like the seat pedestals welded, one bolster actuator rebuilt, and a new cockpit cover. Aside from that it is in very good condition.

I paid $17,500 for it as-is, and after rebuilding the motor and installing it, I am in it about $21,500. If I was buying another one I don't think I would spend over $25,000 in this economy, but my lake does have a fairly recent speed limit which has adjusted the price of performance boats around here.

Might as well throw in a picture for good measure.

Hey Rob how are ya? hope things are well haven't seen you on in a while, some notables are with PS 311, it was the nicest 311 in the country hands down, I mean perfect!! also I think the economy as far as older twin engine boats is worse now then in 09, Donzi matt is spot on with what he told you if I were to buy a 311 i would expet to be in the 20-25 range, and if its pristine up to 30k, and that might be pushing it too. you definetly would have to be in it for 19-20 to not worry about getting outta it, there 311's out there for 30/32k but theve been for sale for ages

I think that as a dealer you need to be in the 15-20K range TOPS. IMO remans 4 years ago means they are no different then had they been new. I would try and stay in the 15 range.

I know I am probably out of line here but .... Perfect Storm no doubt is/was absolutely perfect ..... Here is my 311 the black one and a friend of mine's the red one ..... both are 1988s .... mine has 330s w/bravos approx 730 hrs sitting on a 2011 aluminum trailer w/electric over hydralic brakes.
Brand new in 2009 custom convertible top w/stainless rails and full mooring cover. It also has a $5000 stereo. This is kept in a garage on trailer when not being used which is climate controled year round. I am the second owner it was orginally rack stored.
The red one has 365s w/bravos sitting on a 2010 eagle steel trailer. Same canvas .....
Both 311s are on a scale of 1-10 ...... 8.5-9 colours are perfect ..... no scratches ..... no fading ..... extremely clean.

I would put flowers in mine before I would sell it for anything that had a 1 or 2 in front of it.

I think we could still pull in the $30s ...... especially with the new trailers and the shape they in.
You have to believe in the value you have in order to ask for the money you want then sell the value ...... the next step for someone to get into a solid performance boat is at mininum $30-40k more.

I struggle with this topic on a regular basis .... because I would like to move up myself.

Good Luck!

Jeff

if you struggle, it's because you are too high! I'm advertising my 89 35-7 totally up-fitted, spent 25 to 30 k in the last 5 years on it, asking 29k and get no call.

so, you are too high, just like I am at 29! otherwise, it would ring!

Joy of this economy. To get that screaming deal on the bigger boat we have to give away what we got...
