280 SS w/ 496 Mag HO Top Speed?
So... long story short: we're considering a 2002 280 SS w/ a 496 Mag HO and I was wondering what the top speed would be. I can't seem to find numbers online. Anyone know?
Long story is that we've been considering a powerboat for about a year now. Friends have a 271 Fastech, which is more or less where we started looking. We like the larger cabin and looks of the Nordic Heat 28', but that boat is a bit more form over function. Wife would actually prefer a cruiser, like a Sea Ray 280 (room to sleep, bathroom, etc.). Hoping maybe the 280 SS would be a good compromise - but I'd like to know if we can still hang in a typical poker run on our lake. Looking to stay single engine (under 100 hours), trailerable and under 45k.

hmmmm,, not sure I'm guessing low 50's, I drove both single engine and twin 280's last year, both were great and well mannered, the single surprised me with plenty of "giddy up" but I did not top it out, Also as a note, the 280 is a great boat, but I cannot see overnighting on it, cabin is small but functional, with the center sections in place there is not alotta sleeping area, especially if you are taller like me, good luck!
