Default 382 with Mitcher T paint (any info)

Does anyone know anything info on the 382 Fastech with the mitcher T paint for sale here on OSO,, Looks like a broker has it in Mich. has 500efi's.. Will those be a dog in this big and heavy of a boat? What do these things way with trailer..
Can you tow with a F-350 4x4 7.3l diesel?
Looks good but little worried with some of these 382's taking on water at the Hull line..
Wife will kick my A_S if she sees me looking...

Don't know that boat but loved our 2002 382. 10,500 dry weight, 200 gallons, and trailer brings it to 14,XXX loaded on an aluminum trailer. I towed mine (aluminum trailer) with a 2007 6.0L PSD dually without issue. Our previous 3/4 Suburban had it's hands full though. Mine ran 98 with Procharged 500's when I got it and 86 with N/A 540's we built the first winter I had it......Stock 500's are reported to be low 70's with 75 in ideal conditions. I also had a 312 before my 382, the size/ride difference is incredible but it's more "SUV" ride then "sports car" ride. I never heard of a 382 'taking on water"

Thumbs up

Ditto with T500hps said. I have never heard of a 382 taking on water (there is no wood in the transon or stringers on these boats). I would guess the boat will run anywhere from 72-75 mph, and would also estimate the total weight at 15,0000. I tow mine with a 2005 2500HD Silverado crew cab 4x4, Duramax / Allison with no problems and get 10 - 11 mpg doing it.

382 are great boats.

I thought I read on here a long-long blog about Formula had an issue of where the top of the boat and the hull were joined together.. Had to do with the bonding agent they used.. I think Phantom Chaos was in on it..
I have the 312 now and she's fun to drive and quick in turns and goes anywhere and is a real head turner at the docks...but just not sure if the next jump and I hope final should be a 353 or 382.. I really want to make that run from Miami to the keys someday. but most my boating is at Lake Norris in TN.... UUHHHGGG. When does it ever end.

Next and "last" boat.......I will never own that "last" boat. For me, I enjoy using a boat for what it's designed for but after a few years I want to do something else. Had cruisers, ski boats, performance boats, and currently own a 21 ft CC. Each excels at different things and I throughly enjoy using each of them in that way.
When I had the 312 I thought the 353 would be the next step but you need to spend some time in one. I have 3 kids and we overnight a fair amount. The 353 was really only the head compartment bigger than the 312 but the 382 was a huge difference. Made the jump and glad I did.

I absolutely love my 382 it's a great boat with many amenities. Certainly not the fastest and I see 74 at on the top but with 500 EFI's it cruises at 45/50 and that's perfect for me. Never had water problems that weren't self inflicted. I broke a transome plate once and that was some scary chit running back to the marina.

I think you mean this HERE?

The 382 with the HP500EFI's is not a "dog". It's a great and reliable package that will scoot you to 75.

I thought so,,,, I remember reading all this and thinking SH_T that sucks and could be some big $$ for no reason. You guys with 382's
1) does this boat need extension box's?
2.) If you do any motor upgrades like pro-chargers with the weight of the boat will you trash the Bravo's
3.) whats the cruise on this boat to keep up on plane.
Thanks for the help.

You can buy my 525 powered 382 for almost the same $. Real close in fact. But I do like that Mitcher T boat.

I remember reading PhantomChaos issues about the bonding and even had a minor issue with my 312 not completely bonded under the windshield joint but I really don't think this was a widespread problem. I have no experience in this field, just basing it off the fact he was the only one I rememeber pointing it out.

Mine did not have extension boxes and BBblades claimed they made little difference on this particular hull. My 382 had 8 PSI Prochargers installed right after purchase (by the original owner) and I was told they blew an XZ drive pretty soon afterwards. They installed XR's and ran it to 96 hours when I bought it. That power supposedly made 830hp and pushed the boat to 98mph with 34 Bravos.

Soon after I bought the boat I sold the Prochargers and built N/A 540's (the engines were "hurt" when I got it). Dyno'ed fully dressed (seawater pump through MY CMI's) they made 630hp, 700tq. I ran 32 Bravos for 3 years without issue, switched to Maximus and blew a drive in 3 months.

Not really comparable but my cruise speed at 3,500 was 56-59 GPS depending on load/conditions. Anything under about 45 felt like the transom wanted to dig in.
