1986 Formula 242 ls evaluation
Hello to everyone,
I'd like to have your opinion and suggestion about this kind of boat.
The boat is a 242ls 1986. The engine installed a 502 mercruiser magnum MPI, with about 300 hours and bravo One. The engine is not the original and has been installed in 1993. Boat gas been used only in fresh water (lake Garda), but bottom painted. Gelcoat needs to be shined up. Teak swimplatform has to be rebuilt. Interiors old but in good conditions, no restoration in needed. No trailer with the boat.
The guy is asking 10k dollars, i'm offering 7,5k
Best compliments to OSO, number One of the offshore sites!

yes tops, you will end up be spending more money to get the boat where you want it to be.
I was at the bakery this morning and they had a poster of Lake Garda, they had it for years.
Good luck

I think $7500 is a fair number if it runs well and has no stringer or transom rot. Try to get as much history on service and proof of maintenance as you can.
FYI...all '86 Formulas should have a 30 Th anniversary medallion on them. That was a great year and the last year for the "Flat Glass" that Classic Formula collectors love.

The boat is close to my home, about 100miles, so it shouldn't be' expensive take it at home.
Thanks for your suggestions.

I have an "84 242ls with 2007 496MAG/375hp. Should do between 55-62. If everything works $7500 worth it. Hull is bullet proof and buffing wheel and a good sealant all she needs. My hull shines like new.
My engine and drive were $18,000 in the box and 502 were $8000 more. Got 1st when they replaced 454 in 2001, 2007 replaced under warranty. Marina mounted engine too low and took on water. Just check tab pump etc, should be fine. Should be running 22" 4 blade Bravo or 23" 3 blade Mirage
