Default Towing question

Hey guys, need some help/advice. I am thinking about going from a newer F150 to a 2011/12 Expedition. How will towing a 312 fastech be with an expedition?

Depending on gearing, basically the same chassis otherwise i believe.and depending on your current configuration, probably a little shorter wheel base.i wouldn't think there'd be too much of a difference.

Depending on towing package trans. Cooler and so on. That seems like alot of weight to pull and stop with a 1/2 ton

Too much for the Expedition...the Expy has a light weight swing axle...no where near the strength of the F-150 rear axle. The only New SUV adequate for that would be a Suburban 3/4 ton or possible an Escalade ESV or Denali with mods.

I towed a 312 with a 3/4 Burb for a couple years and it was fine.....but it was all I wanted behind that truck. Towing the same rig behind a shorter, 1/2 ton chassis seems like a problem to me.

The problem will be stopping IMO....... I towed my 292 with a 5.4l F250 and it could do it, but stopping was sketchy at best. I went to a Chevy 3500HD dually, and it's literally like it's not even there.

30+ I'd go 3/4 ton unless all short hauls and no highways.
