Ok sorry I haven't been on here for a few days but I ended up making a deal at 13k. Clean boat with a 2001 trailer. I've got a few issues to work out but hopefully all goes well. One thing I need is the bow navigation light anyone know where I can find one? Or is there a good universal one that will work? Thanks

Lots of things on a old boat to take care of besides the motor!!! Not trying to scare anyone!! But if you need some interior work a Bimini top new tires on the trailer you can drop a thousand bucks in a new stereo without batting an eye all i'm saying is it's not cheap making an old boat new again!!!!! Or I shoul say making that old boat your new boat!!!!! They are awesome boats that's why we spend the money on them!!!

Here you go- the Manufacture is Sea Dog and the Defender part number is 701306. I just replaced mine with with this, which is an LED low profile unit and it fit perfectly. The price was $46.99 from defender. Here is the link:

Thanks for the link to that site, they seem to have everything. Think I'm going to redo the dash this winter and replace the lame toggle switches....

a little late to the game. But I have see it multiple times with BBC with over 1000 hours and still going strong. But with that many hours you could be talking any time, you might want to start looking at rebuild cost or swapping out blocks just in case.

If you replace the gauges take a serious look at AutoMeter. I went with Livorsi but the damn things fade right in front of your eyes. Livorsi repaired them for me but after one year I see they are fading again. It's sort of ridiculous seeing that I live in northern Michigan and my boat one sees sunlight for 4-5 months a year. Also think twice about replacing the toggle switches. They are all little circuit breakers, so if you change them you are going to have to put in another breaker panel or fuse each one of them.

200 or 1000 hours its not if, its when, seen plenty of stock 454/502 boats grenade within 500 hours, 1000 just means they run and are proven. friend has a 272 with 1300 hours and minus a little puff at start up they run flawless,

If the engines are well maintained I wouldn't concern my self with the rotating assemblies. Those engines catch a lot of wear in the cylinder heads. If their original you have to consider that they were designed during a time when we all had "real" gasoline instead of this "gasohol" garbage. The exhaust valves and seats might be something to think about this winter while you have time. Valve jobs on those four cylinder heads certainly won't break the bank and will give you a good view into the engines to see how they are holding up.

Congrats on the purchase and enjoy it...you have a good one. I know my friend Diego loves his and he and I have been out on it several times running it hard in the open ocean...great rough water performer.

Post some pics of that rascal!!

Congrats on the purchase, I just bought my 272 last year and love the boat. Like Mr. Maine said handles the rough stuff great.
