Default Looking for some help with some Kaama drive questions

I just picked up a pair of Kaama surface dirves that I would love to retrofit onto my 84 scarab S-type. The boat currently has TRS's with BW velvet drive Tranny's. I am looking to talk to some resident experts regarding these drives and how people are driving them. I am not afraid of a little work or engineering to get these working in my application but my first task is to learn as much as possible about these things and several google searches both within OSO and the web has not uncovered too much detail!

Anybody willing to let me pick your brain?

Here is the link to my origional post in the drives and lower units section(with pictures)..... http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/d...questions.html

Thanks in advance!
Jim

Did you get the twin disk transmissions with the package. If you didnt I dont think it will work due to the and of the output shaft on the tranny. In my 302 the engines were 1/4 inch from the bottom of the hull. It would take complete re-rigging lots of time and frustration. If you want to go through with it I have all of the dimensions and degree angles necessary for the shafts and h blocks on the u joints. I did not get any tranny's but I have read that the twin disc setup is the common setup but is it the only!

Do you have any pictures of the inside of the engine compartment?

Do you mind if I call you sometime to pick your brain?

Thanks
Jim

Yes go ahead and call. I have the alignment specs right from kaama. I realigned my 302 which was betty cooks personal boat and gained 5mph without adding any hp.So alignment is critical.
