Default Aftermarket alternator?

So my alternator blew a bearing it looks like and has the dreaded squeal...(still maintaining a charge however)... The aftermarket alternators on ebay are going for about half the price of the OEM alternator for my 1989 Formula 242 ss 7.4L (model# 805884T)

Does anyone have any experience with an aftermarket alternator? Need your guys advice on this one....

I've had good luck with alternators from DB Electrical . . . Trim pumps also . . . about 1/2 the price of OEM and had no issues.

Same here bought a starter from them last fall, I would use them again. Or see if someone can rebuild it.

I just bought an alternator from them as well. Granted it's only been ran in the driveway for a few minutes but so far so good....

Any name brand aftermarket GM alternator will work and will be much less than Merc's. Merc doen't build them and it's just a rebox'd aftermarket anyways.
