Anyone ever take their windshield off? I want to take it off to have the frame repainted or powder coated due to corrision on frame. If anyone has done it any tips on removal?

I removed the stainless steel windshield from my 1997 419 Fastec. Removed the black foam strip at the base, exposed screws, unscrewed them all (some were broken), removed the windshield as a whole. Once removed, you will have to disassemble the frame from the glass.

Did it this spring, same reason - new powder. Pretty easy. Mark the seals, clean them well. Also, you likely will need to bake the aluminum to have it remove any salt, assuming it's been in salt water.
Hardes part was putting the two rounded pieces in, they took about an hr each to get them right.

Power will hold up better than paint on the windshield. I was going to have it sprayed until a few local repair shops told me to use powder. The aluminum is very soft, be careful with the media you use for blasting.
