400ss with 525s bravo 1 xr's. What props
So got to take my 04 put for the first time. Numbers seem to be way off. 3400 I'm doing 30 barely keeping boat on plane. 4000 37ish. Seems the props are incorrect. What props should I be running? Thanks

Is this the used one from Fla? Pristine condition but with Bravo 1's ? There were very few made with Bravo 1's. The Bravo threes provide much more bite. When cornering with the Bravo 1's there will be blowout on the highside drive. Look for some Bravo 3 drives you will be way happier. For now I would play with the trim. Make sure you are tucked way in and tabs up. trim out to neutral when you get going or until the slip slows you down.

Its a lot of boat to push with a single bravo prop. All the later installs had either dual props IE volvo or merc III. The Ilmore's I think was a 17" or larger dia surfacing prop.

I just switched my bravo III's to bravo 1's on my 38 Fountain EC. I know different boat, but same problem as you have. I can run 26p 4 blade bravos on my boat with 496 mag ho and 1.65:1 ratio. Talked with BBLADES and the mercury maximus five blade 24" pitch prop should work. They have a prop. tryout program that you should look into. The five blade will give you more prop surface and get you on plane quicker and carry the boat on plane at lower rpm's. Normally you go down 2" of pitch going from 4 to 5 blades and they don't make a 22" maximus, but I bet BBLADES can work their magic after you test the 24's and dial in that prop for you. Much cheaper than going to Bravo III's. Also, I destroyed my upper within 400 hours on one drive and the other drive was right behind it. The dual props are hell on the bravo uppers as they put too much torque on the upper gears. I'll let you know how my trial goes.

I got in touch with formula. They sent me performance numbers with the same set up but with 22p 4 blades. The numbers on that boat are way better then mine. Which came with the 24p 4 blades. I think we came to the conclusion that when I had the props repaired they must have tweeked them out of spec and and polished the **** out of them.

38 fountain express cruiser 17,500 lbs., not that different. Brett with BBLADES spent 30 minutes on the phone with me discussing props. Guy is a wealth of information and just sayin a phone call before you spend lots of dollars and time on props is time well spent. Good luck with your set-up.
