I would take a good boat, if the motors were in decent shape. The regular (330 HP) big blocks have good low end torque (I believe better than the 365 HP Mags) so the hole shot will still be OK. You might not win the offshore races with the 330's, but you'll still come in second The 1989's should be the Mark IV version of the 454 block, which are bullet proof and preferred over the Gen 5 version.

Like the others have stated, when you go to freshen up the engines, you can add some HP bling.

Not sure I agree with the gen iv/gen v statement, Gen V has a roller cam which is a huge improvement over std hydraulic. What is the issue with Gen Vs?

Gen Vs didn't come with a roller cam, unless a "retro fit" roller cam was added, same with Mark iv. The Gen vi engine came with a roller cam.

Hey, thanks Ted. Nice to have you on the thread. I think you're right. Granted, another one may come along that's 365, but who knows what condition it will be. Much harder buying a boat than a car! The selection is so slim, hard to get a baseline. I think it would be a good buy.

Oh, hey Ted! Yes yes. I bought the boat. Just working out my props. Having a hard time figuring it all out. The guy had it propped so wrong it's not even funny. He had some 24 Bravos on there and I got an extra pair of 25p Mirage props...both of with are too much prop I think. Stock was Mirage 23 pitch.

Bought a digital RPM reader which we're gonna test this weekend cause I'm not gonna trust that 27 year old tach. So once I have that info I'm thinking sell the Bravos and Mirage props (these are already for sale) and get some Hydromotive IV.

Sorry, totally forgot. I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow!!

I've got a 292 SR-1 and it came originally with 330's. I've gone through many different engines in it and I'm hoping to finally test the 650 hp 509's this weekend. If you have any questions on your boat let me know. As to props, I would stick to 4 blades. I've run both Hydromotive QIV's and Bravos. With the 330's 24 pitch QiV's will get you to 64 mph in stock form. I liked them better than Bravos.

In the current set up I'm going to be running 30P bravos that have been labbed and I just got them back from BBlades who modified the cup. You will enjoy your boat. Have fun and again, if you have any questions on it, let me know.
