Need a ride comparison 357 SR1 vs 353 Fastech
I had a 311 SR1 for many years, and traded it for a 357 SR1 about 10 years ago mostly for the better ride in rough water.. Instead of refreshing the 357 motors, I now have the opportunity of moving to a 353 Fastech. The 357 was a completely different ride than the 311, it just ate up rough water that would have slammed me in the smaller boat. The 311 was like a Ford Mustang compared to the 357 being a Lincoln limo. How much ride will I give up with moving to the 353 Fastech compared with the 357 ? How much better is the 353 than the 311 ? I'm a daytripper, no overnights and boat mostly Long Island Sound where it can get rough .I'm not into speed, mostly just cruise 80- 100 mile trips at 35-40 mph. My SR1 boats both had Bravo Drives and ran 65 mph which is plenty for me. I need some opinions please. TIA.

I’ve owned a 311sr1 and other smaller sr1s 302 and a 242. I have been on a few 353s and other fastechs. I boat on Lake Michigan Chicago side for the last 20 plus years. In rough water nothing compares to the way the old sr1s ride in my opinion. The newer stuff maybe faster but the ride is not the same, also the cockpit layout is cramped compared to the older stuff.

I had a 382 and have tied up to a 357.....very little difference in the boats size. I suspect that 353 is closer to your 311 in size. Your analogy was funny because I used the same car (mustang) in descriptions. I had a buddy with a 353 and his boat seemed like that mustang whereas my 382 felt like the Excursion.
