New Merc Maximus 5-blades

Just finished testing a new 353/525s/Stellings boxes with a set of the new Merc labbed 30" 5-blade Maximus props. Best setup we've seen lately. Ran faster and handled better than 5-blade 29" Hydros (stock, not labbed) ,33 labbed Merc bravo1 4-blades,or 34 labbed 4 blades. Excellent handling, lots of bow lift. I'm sold on these props, been a long wait but worth it. Can't wait to try a pair on our 382/575's/Stellings poker run boat.

We ran GPS 88.5 banging the rev limiters hard and ran out of lake (area where customer lives has shorter straightaways than near my house) With a little more pitch and a little more room,90 should be easy, maybe a tad more. These props are new to us,we've always used labbed Bravos and still like them, but the acceleration was better, they break loose a little, but not as much as the big pitch Bravos, and hold the nose up better. We have been so used to Fastechs running flat that this increased bow lift is slightly different. I would like to try them on a 353 wihout boxes, but will have to wait till I get another set in.

Might take awhile. At this time only even pitches, smallest being 28,but none available anywhere. I'll post as I find out more.

Robert, That sounds great . Still waiting on my herings. Will keep you up to date on them also. If the herings dont do the trick for me ,how long does it take to get a set of 5 blades from merc. Do you think the twin 525s have enough hp to pull a 32 merc. 5 blade. Thanks Rex

Talk with Julie at Throttle-up. She has P-5X 27 pitch. They were going to try them on my boat but she felt that the prop would lose around 500 rpm over the 26 P-5. Currently my boat (38 ZX/525 2004 with notch/ITS/Sportmasters) is running 81 with Labbed Bravo's and 79.8 with Hydro P-5. I will probably try the P-5X once they make them in a 26 pitch. That will probably be in a month or so. Has anyone noticed increased times to plane with either of these blades?. Currently my time to plane is around 8.3 seconds. They (the factory) are going to try 380 K planes in place of the stock 280's.

Rex, I think the combo will pull 32's.Holdup now is there is no inventory of Maximas anywhere. My guess is the boat builders are getting most of the first ones. I am going to order a couple anyway and see what happens. Robert
