Re: Engine compartment Lights
Mine are the same way. I hear it's a common problem. With the base of those things being so small and the beating they go thru, it's no wonder they all break. I have been going to look at some RV supply places to see what them may have but there always seems to be something higher on the list.

I bought a direct replacement at BoatUS but it was expensive. When the next one broke the same way (at the base), I machined a new base out of billet AL. I think that someone else here also made a new base for theirs out of nylon, delrin or some other plastic material.

Re: Engine compartment Lights
One of my friends, goes by 27fountain on OSO, was making the bases out of aluminum. Several of us in Cincinnati have them now and they are really nice. I had mine powdercoated for an extra $7, for both. Not sure if he is making anymore, but the ones that he made are nice. No more worries about the bases breaking. I think I paid $20 each for the bases, but that was over a year ago and can't remember that far back, anymore.
