Default Questions about 42' Fountain?

What have been the changes in this hull over the years. How fast are they twin 500's? side by side and staggered?
Thanks Kirk

Thanks Downtown more specifically when and what were the changes. Were the old 12 meters just pad bottoms with a notched transom? I know some where around the mid 90's they added the steps. And some where along the line they added the deeper steps. Were all these changes an improvement or did some not work as well as previous models? How does a non step model compare to smaller step model compared to a deep step model.

Straight hulls will be 5-7 mph slower but more stable. Steps came out about 1995 and have been modified thru present. A step hull will be more flat on the water, kinda like riding on marbles. They will spin out and eject you if you're not careful, mainly high-speed turns.

Did you crawl out of the cave? Looks like you have been here for long time. There was a good thread on steps here in Fountain forum a week ago. Are you in the market for something?

I've been around a while, I was the 200 something member to register when they use to list that on profiles. I just don't post much. I had a 29' Fountain. All these posts on the general discussion about Fountains and Outerlimits got me looking in the classifieds at 42' Fountains. Just curious, I'll do some searches on here to find out more info.

I have a 1999 42' Lightning with twin steps & staggered 500EFis that runs 80MPH (GPS) with some chop and low fuel. It handles the rough water great and as long as you're careful it turns just fine.
