Default 35 2000 twin step

Does anyone know in the ist year model change with the 35 twin step, did they do any experimenting with the x dimensions or locations of steps or any changes in 01 to correct 00 problems if any. I know in 95 1st year of single step they moved step around untill they found sweet spot

thk Joe

2000 was the first year of the twin step and fountain had some problems with the X dimension and the ability for the boat to come out of the hole. In 2001 they fixed the X dimension and no problems. I own a 2001 35' Fountain and do not have any problem with the new set up. I would not buy a 2000 if I were looking. Not much difference in price to set up 1 year.

Hey Mike,

Do you happen to have any info on a 2000 35 Classic (single step) with the HP500's? Just curious on top end and how they got up on plane...thanks.

My 99 with hp 500's ran 81 - they went to a higher x a few years on the 35 classic and now claim to run 80 with just 496's. My guess it you could run a shortie drive on the classics and get them up a few mph.

Thanks guy's I would have thought that the 00 would of been a higher X dimension because I read somewhere that some of the oo had a problem coming on plane and some boats where sent back and fountain installed a spacer to lower the drive, I also thought that 01 went to merc., props because of merc'c involvment with fountain. I am know worried is buying a 00 because you can always lower your drives with spacers but to raise alot more trouble and expense. So from what I am reading the merc prop likes a higher x than a hydro. If this is the case an oo would be okay with a hydro with the lower x dimensuion?

My boat is a 35 01 but it ran 84 with 30 bravo's and 500mpi's I wonder how close my 01 was to the last 00 mold . Can you tell by the serial # FGQ35554D001.
